A Bright Idea: Repowering America through Renewable Energy

Since its establishment in the 1990s, EPA's "Brownfields" land revitalization program has enabled states, communities, and other stakeholders to clean up and sustainably reuse many contaminated properties. In 2008, EPA launched an innovative program to link its signature brownfields program with renewable energy production and strategic carbon reduction. Since then, the RE-Powering program has undertaken a series of activities designed to promote and encourage the success of these transformative projects. This panel seeks to present an update on RE-Powering as it is playing out in the marketplace and provide a review of successful RE-Powering projects across the country.
