Industrial Site Certification Programs Create Project-Ready Industrial Sites
Today’s real estate market demands industrial sites that offer strategic advantages for project development. Oregon’s Certified Industrial Lands Program meets this demand by creating an inventory of highly marketable, project-ready industrial sites that are ready for construction within six months or less. Oregon’s industrial site certification saves time, lowers costs, and provides added certainty that a site meets development objectives. This presentation focuses on how site certification programs can be the key for states and local municipalities to get their industrial sites ready for reuse in a cost-effective and time saving manner. The certification of the former primary aluminum smelter and federal Superfund site in The Dalles, Oregon (described by the Oregon Business Development Department as “one of the most important industrial sites in the State of Oregon”), is discussed in detail to provide an example of how the process can work.
